Sudden death refers to a severe medical condition characterized by sudden loss of consciousness and cardiac arrest, often occurring without warning. It is usually caused by the following factors:

1. Heart diseases: Most cases of sudden death are related to heart conditions, including arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, and cardiomyopathy. Arrhythmia is one of the most common causes; ventricular fibrillation and ventricular flutter can rapidly lead to cardiac arrest, preventing effective blood circulation to various parts of the body.

2. Vascular diseases: Rupture of aneurysms and aortic dissection are also among the causes of sudden death. These conditions lead to blood loss or impaired vascular function, rapidly interrupting blood supply to vital organs and resulting in sudden death.

3. Other causes: These include, but are not limited to, central nervous system disorders such as cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction, acute metabolic disturbances such as hyperkalemia and hypoglycemia, and certain genetic disorders, all of which may trigger sudden death.

Sudden death is a serious medical emergency. Immediate medical assistance should be sought, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other necessary first-aid measures should be administered promptly. Regular medical check-ups, attention to heart health, and maintaining good lifestyle habits are also essential.
