Signs of Low Intelligence
Disease description:
My child is 2 years old and still does not speak. I am very worried this may be related to intellectual development. Doctor, I would like to ask, what are the signs of intellectual disability?
The manifestations of intellectual disability are diverse, mainly including:
1. Language and thinking impairments: delayed speech development, poor expressive abilities, slow thinking and comprehension, lack of abstract reasoning and generalization skills; in severe cases, loss of speech ability may occur.
2. Sensory and attention problems: slow perception, narrow perceptual range, difficulty distinguishing subtle differences between objects; inattention, limited attention span.
3. Emotional and social difficulties: emotional instability, impulsivity, poor self-control; social challenges, withdrawal and isolation, difficulty establishing and maintaining relationships with peers.
4. Motor and behavioral abnormalities: poor coordination, reduced agility, possible hyperactivity, destructive or aggressive behaviors; learning difficulties, academic performance significantly below that of peers.
If concerns arise, prompt medical consultation is recommended.
