Dr. Wang Xin
The early symptoms of aortic dissection are mainly manifested as follows: 1. Severe pain: This is the most typical symptom of aortic dissection. The pain is often described as tearing or knife-like, unbearable, and the location of the pain is closely related to the site of the dissection. 2. Hypertension: Most patients with aortic dissection have hypertension, and there may be a significant blood pressure difference between the two arms or between the upper and lower limbs. Severe pain can further elevate blood pressure, creating a vicious cycle. 3. Cardiovascular symptoms: When the dissection involves the heart, symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness, angina pectoris, and myocardial infarction may occur. If the dissection ruptures and bleeds into the pericardium, it can cause pericardial tamponade, leading to hypotension or even shock. 4. Other symptoms: Depending on the extent of organ involvement, patients may also experience symptoms of organ or limb ischemia such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, paralysis, abdominal pain, hematemesis, and melena.
