What are the symptoms of early pregnancy?
Disease description:
I've been feeling nauseous lately, with a queasy stomach, and I've been craving sour foods. I'm worried I might be pregnant and would like to know: what are the early symptoms of pregnancy?
Common symptoms during the early stage of pregnancy (usually referring to the first trimester, less than 13 weeks gestation) mainly include the following:
1. **Amenorrhea (absence of menstruation):** This is the earliest and most obvious symptom of early pregnancy. If menstrual cycles have been regular and menstruation is delayed by more than 10 days, pregnancy should be highly suspected.
2. **Early pregnancy reactions:** Such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, aversion to greasy foods, and preference for sour-tasting foods. These symptoms typically appear about six weeks after amenorrhea begins and generally resolve spontaneously around the 12th week of pregnancy. The severity varies among individuals, and medical attention may be required for severe cases.
3. **Breast changes:** Breast tenderness, gradual enlargement of the breasts, enlargement and darkening of the nipples and areola, and the possible appearance of Montgomery tubercles.
4. **Frequent urination:** An enlarged uterus within the pelvic cavity compresses the bladder, leading to increased frequency of urination. This symptom may gradually subside as the pregnancy progresses.
If there are any concerns, it is recommended to seek medical advice promptly.
