Symptoms of Kidney Failure
Disease description:
My grandfather has been feeling unwell recently. After going to the hospital for examination, he was told he has kidney failure. I would like to ask about the symptoms of kidney failure.
The symptoms of kidney failure are mainly manifested as follows:
1. Gastrointestinal symptoms: such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal distension, and erosive gastritis with possible bleeding. In addition, patients may develop aversion to high-quality protein foods such as meat, and may experience symptoms including thirst, glossitis (inflammation of the tongue), and mucosal erosion in the mouth.
2. Cardiovascular symptoms: Most patients with kidney failure have hypertension, which tends to progressively worsen as the disease progresses. Long-term hypertension combined with accumulation of uremic toxins and disturbances in water and electrolyte balance may lead to cardiac complications such as myocarditis, pericarditis, and pericardial effusion.
3. Hematopoietic system symptoms: Patients with kidney failure commonly present with anemia, demonstrated by low hemoglobin levels, and may also display spontaneous bleeding tendencies such as bruising, nosebleeds, or gum bleeding.
4. Neurological symptoms: In the early stages, symptoms may include headache, memory loss, and difficulty concentrating. In advanced stages, symptoms may progress to drowsiness, confusion, muscle twitching, convulsions, seizures, and even coma.
