Can ovulation test strips detect early pregnancy?
Disease description:
I have been preparing for pregnancy in the past two months. Can ovulation test strips detect early pregnancy?
Ovulation test strips and early pregnancy test strips are two different types of testing tools, designed to detect different hormone levels.
Ovulation test strips are used to detect the concentration of luteinizing hormone (LH) in urine. When LH levels rise, it typically indicates that ovulation will occur within 24 to 36 hours, which is an important indicator for women planning to conceive. These strips cannot detect human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), the hormone produced in early pregnancy, which is the target of early pregnancy tests. Early pregnancy test strips are specifically designed to detect the level of hCG in urine. This hormone begins to increase significantly after the fertilized egg implants and serves as a marker for confirming pregnancy.
Therefore, ovulation test strips cannot be used to detect early pregnancy. If you suspect you may be pregnant, you should use a specific early pregnancy test strip or undergo a blood hCG test to obtain accurate results.
