It is not recommended for men to take Liuwei Dihuang Wan without medical necessity. Liuwei Dihuang Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine preparation primarily composed of Rehmannia glutinosa (prepared), Chinese yam, Cornus officinalis, tree peony bark, Poria, and Alisma orientale. It functions to nourish yin and supplement the kidneys and is mainly used to treat symptoms caused by kidney yin deficiency, such as dizziness, tinnitus, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, night sweats, and seminal emission. Every medication has its own properties and potential side effects, and Liuwei Dihuang Wan is no exception. Taking medications arbitrarily when in good health may cause adverse effects on the body. As a tonic medicine, long-term use of Liuwei Dihuang Wan when healthy may affect the digestive function of the spleen and stomach, potentially leading to symptoms such as obesity or indigestion. Liuwei Dihuang Wan is only suitable for patients with kidney yin deficiency. If men do not actually have symptoms of kidney yin deficiency, taking it may instead cause imbalance between yin and yang in the body, leading to discomfort.
