How are flat warts transmitted?
Disease description:
Recently, many small bumps have appeared on my face. After visiting the hospital, the doctor diagnosed them as flat warts. Are flat warts contagious?
The transmission of flat warts mainly occurs through the following routes:
1. Direct contact transmission: This is the primary mode of transmission for flat warts. When coming into direct contact with an infected individual, especially through skin-to-skin contact, the virus can easily spread from the infected area to a non-infected person.
2. Indirect contact transmission: Sharing personal items with individuals who have flat warts, such as towels, bath sponges,刮痧 boards (Gua Sha boards), or nail clippers, may result in transmission. The virus can remain on these objects and increase the risk of infection.
3. Autoinoculation: If a person with flat warts scratches the affected area, causing skin damage, the virus may spread to other parts of the body through these broken areas, leading to the development of new warts.
Additionally, moist environments such as public baths and swimming pools may also facilitate viral transmission. To prevent the spread of flat warts, it is important to maintain personal hygiene, avoid direct contact with infected individuals and sharing personal items, and strengthen the body's immune system.
