Diet After Appendectomy
A few days ago, I had surgery for appendicitis. I would like to ask what would be good to eat after appendectomy?
After appendectomy, dietary adjustment is important for the patient's recovery. Recommendations for diet after appendicitis surgery include:
1. In the early postoperative period, patients should start with liquid foods such as rice soup and thin porridge, gradually transition to semi-liquid foods like noodles and steamed eggs, and then slowly increase intake of solid foods. However, patients should avoid oily, spicy, high-fiber, and hard-to-digest foods that may irritate the gastrointestinal tract or cause indigestion.
2. Nutritional supplementation: As gastrointestinal function recovers, patients can appropriately increase intake of nutrients such as vitamins and proteins, including fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meat, and eggs. These foods help accelerate wound healing and the recovery of body muscle tissue.
3. Regular eating habits: Postoperative meals should be regular and patients should avoid overeating or binge eating to prevent indigestion. Additionally, maintaining adequate fluid intake throughout the recovery period is very important to help prevent constipation and maintain water and electrolyte balance.
Following medical advice and planning meals appropriately will help ensure a smooth recovery after surgery.
