Neck sprain is a common neck condition. If it occurs frequently, it may be caused by the following reasons:

1. Improper sleeping posture: Maintaining an incorrect posture of the head and neck during sleep, such as prolonged lying on the back or side, can cause pressure on the head and neck, possibly leading to a neck sprain.

2. Pillow problems: Inappropriate pillow height and firmness are common causes. Pillows that are too high or too low may exert pressure on the head and neck during sleep, causing discomfort and resulting in a neck sprain.

3. Neck chilling: Exposure of the neck to cold air during sleep can easily cause neck muscle tension or spasms, thus triggering a neck sprain.

4. Prolonged maintenance of the same posture: Keeping the head lowered for extended periods while using a mobile phone, working on a computer, or reading can cause continuous tension in the neck muscles, poor blood circulation, muscle stiffness and pain, thereby increasing the risk of neck sprain.

5. Cervical spondylosis: Cervical spine conditions such as degenerative cervical spine disease and intervertebral disc herniation can reduce the stability of the cervical spine, making the neck more susceptible to injury and increasing the incidence of neck sprain.

6. Muscle fatigue: Long-term physical labor or excessive exercise can overwork the neck muscles, reducing their resistance to unexpected injuries, making it easier to suffer a neck sprain.

To reduce the occurrence of neck sprain, it is recommended to pay attention to sleeping posture, choose a suitable pillow, and avoid neck chilling.
