Pain on the left side of the buttocks can be caused by various factors, with the following being the most common:

1. Trauma: If the left side of the buttocks experiences impact or injury from a fall, it may lead to damage of the muscles, ligaments, or bones, resulting in pain.

2. Prolonged poor posture or sitting for long periods: These may cause muscle strain in the left buttock or compression of the sciatic nerve, leading to pain.

3. Muscle strain or overuse: Maintaining the same posture for extended periods, such as sitting or standing for long durations, excessive or improper exercise, or lifting heavy objects can all cause injury to the buttock muscles or ligaments, resulting in pain.

4. Hip joint issues: Conditions such as hip arthritis or hip impingement can also cause buttock pain, particularly becoming more noticeable during movement.

5. Piriformis syndrome: The piriformis muscle is located deep in the buttock. When this muscle becomes tight or spasms, it can compress the sciatic nerve, causing pain in the buttock and lower limb.

For buttock pain, patients are advised to first try relief measures such as rest, heat application, and gentle massage. If the pain persists or is accompanied by symptoms such as fever, numbness, or weakness, prompt medical attention at a hospital is recommended.
