Is there any side effect of Mecobalamin Tablets?
A few days ago, I felt unwell and went to the hospital for a checkup. The doctor prescribed Mecobalamin tablets. After taking them, I felt nauseous and wanted to vomit. I would like to ask, what are the side effects of Mecobalamin tablets?

Mecobalamin tablets are a derivative of vitamin B12, used for the treatment of peripheral neuropathy, such as diabetic neuropathy and alcoholic neuropathy, as well as for the adjunctive treatment of megaloblastic anemia. It alleviates neurological symptoms by improving the metabolism of nerve cells and promoting the synthesis of neurotransmitters. However, mecobalamin tablets may also cause certain side effects:
1. Gastrointestinal discomfort: such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach discomfort.
2. Skin reactions: such as rash, itching; and other allergic reactions, such as difficulty breathing and facial swelling. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions or abnormalities of the nervous system may occur.
3. Nervous system reactions: although mecobalamin tablets are primarily used to treat neurological disorders, some patients may still experience nervous system reactions such as headache and dizziness during use. This may be due to the drug's stimulatory effect on the nervous system. If symptoms persist or worsen, medical attention should be sought promptly.
4. Liver damage: long-term and excessive use of mecobalamin tablets may cause liver damage, manifested as abnormal liver function and elevated transaminase levels. Therefore, it is recommended that patients regularly monitor their liver function during treatment.
