What are the risks associated with phimosis in boys?
My son's genital area often has an unpleasant odor. After a hospital examination, it was said to be caused by phimosis. I would like to ask, what are the harms or risks associated with phimosis in boys?

Possible harms of phimosis in boys:
1. Difficulty in cleaning and increased risk of infection: Phimosis may lead to accumulation of smegma under the foreskin and on the glans penis. If not cleaned promptly, bacteria may proliferate, causing inflammation such as balanitis and posthitis. Severe cases may lead to urethral stricture.
2. Impact on sexual life: Phimosis may affect the quality of sexual life. During intercourse, the foreskin may not retract easily, causing pain or discomfort. Long-term friction from the foreskin may reduce the sensitivity of the glans, affecting sexual pleasure.
3. Impaired development: Phimosis may interfere with normal penile development, leading to a small or abnormally shaped penis, which may affect sexual function in adulthood.
4. Increased risk of urinary tract infections: Chronic balanitis or posthitis may lead to urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis, affecting the health of the urinary system.
5. Psychological effects: Phimosis can sometimes cause psychological distress, such as reduced self-confidence and sexual anxiety.
