How to manage insufficient lung Qi
Always feeling short of breath and weak, becoming breathless even after slight exertion; tests indicate insufficient lung Qi. How can insufficient lung Qi be managed and improved?
Pulmonary qi deficiency refers to weakened lung function, which may manifest as shortness of breath, fatigue, susceptibility to colds, and weak voice.
Here are some recommendations for management:
1. Diet: Eat more foods that can nourish lung qi, such as white fungus, lily bulbs, almonds, pears, Chinese yam, honey, jujubes, bird's nest, and tremella. Avoid overly spicy or irritating foods. Drink plenty of water regularly.
2. Daily routines: Ensure sufficient sleep and avoid staying up late; keep indoor air clean and free from smoke and dust; engage in appropriate outdoor activities to strengthen the body.
3. Breathing exercises: Deep breathing and abdominal breathing can increase lung capacity and improve pulmonary ventilation and gas exchange capacity.
4. Herbal remedies: Use lung-qi tonic herbs such as astragalus, codonopsis, and wolfberry as directed by a physician. Do not take medication arbitrarily without medical guidance.
5. Psychological well-being: Maintain a positive mindset and avoid excessive stress, as emotional distress can also affect lung function.
6. Exercise: Activities such as tai chi, yoga, walking, jogging, mountain climbing, and swimming are all beneficial. Avoid overexertion; moderate sweating is sufficient.
7. Other methods: Moxibustion, cupping therapy, herbal application on acupoints, and dietary therapy may also be helpful.
If symptoms worsen or persist, it is recommended to seek timely medical attention.
