Correct Steps for Measuring Blood Pressure:

1. Preparation: Rest for at least 5 minutes before measuring blood pressure. Empty your bladder and avoid smoking, drinking coffee, engaging in vigorous activity, or eating for 30 minutes prior to measurement. Remain emotionally calm and breathe steadily.

2. Proper Sitting Position: Sit in a chair with a backrest. Place both feet flat on the ground. Keep your back straight, expose your arm, and rest your elbow on a table so that the upper arm is at the same level as your heart.

3. Check the Sphygmomanometer: Ensure the mercury column of the sphygmomanometer is at zero. For an electronic blood pressure monitor, confirm that the battery is sufficiently charged and the device is functioning properly.

4. Use an Appropriate Cuff: Ensure the cuff size is suitable, as a cuff that is too loose or too tight can affect measurement accuracy. The cuff should fit snugly against the skin, positioned approximately 2–3 cm above the elbow.

5. Taking the Blood Pressure Reading: Press the start button and wait until the blood pressure reading stabilizes before recording it. Usually, measure 2–3 times consecutively, with a one-minute interval between each measurement, and calculate the average of the last two readings.
