What are the causes of fever?
Recently, my child has been sick with recurring fevers, with temperatures fluctuating between 38°C and 39°C. I would like to ask, what are the possible causes of fever?
The main reason for fever is that the body is mounting an immune response to some kind of stimulus. Some common causes of fever include:
1. Infections: When the body's resistance decreases, it becomes susceptible to invasion by pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, which can lead to illnesses like upper respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia, resulting in elevated body temperature.
2. Hyperthyroidism: Excessive secretion of thyroid hormones into the bloodstream can cause a series of symptoms, including fever and excessive sweating.
4. Autoimmune diseases: Conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis cause the immune system to attack the body's healthy cells, leading to inflammation and fever.
5. Drug reactions: Certain medications may cause fever as a side effect, a condition known as drug fever.
6. Malignant tumors: Cancer can sometimes cause fever, especially cancers of the blood system, such as leukemia and lymphoma.
7. Endocrine disorders: Conditions such as hyperthyroidism may lead to abnormal body temperature regulation, causing fever.
