Alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme widely present in tissues such as the liver, bones, intestines, and kidneys. The normal range is generally 40–129 U/L for men and 40–110 U/L for women. When the alkaline phosphatase level is 44 U/L, it falls within the normal range and typically does not indicate any health issues.

The interpretation of alkaline phosphatase levels should take into account clinical context and overall health status. Children and adolescents undergoing active bone growth may have higher levels of alkaline phosphatase. In older adults or individuals with certain medical conditions, alkaline phosphatase levels may be lower, which can be associated with malnutrition, liver dysfunction, or specific genetic disorders. It is important to note that low levels of alkaline phosphatasemay also be related to reduced food intake, weakened immunity, anemia, chronic illness, or medication effects.

If alkaline phosphatase levels are only slightly decreased and there are no other significant symptoms, there is generally no cause for concern. However, if other abnormal test results or related symptoms are present, further investigation is recommended to rule out potential underlying diseases.
