In traditional Chinese medicine, lung dryness usually refers to insufficient body fluids in the lungs caused by a deficiency of yin, leading to symptoms such as dry cough, little or no phlegm, and dryness of the mouth and nose. To treat lung dryness, herbs that nourish yin and moisten dryness are commonly used, such as Ophiopogon Root (Mai Dong), Adenophora Root (Sha Shen), Polygonatum Rhizome (Yu Zhu), and Lily Bulb (Bai He). Commonly recommended medications include:

1. Lung-Moistening and Cough-Relieving Pills: These have the effect of clearing heat, moistening the lungs, relieving cough, and resolving phlegm, and are suitable for symptoms such as dry cough with little phlegm and dry throat.

2. Lily Bulb Lung-Strengthening Tablets: This formula mainly nourishes yin, clears the lungs, relieves cough, and resolves phlegm, and is suitable for cough caused by lung dryness accompanied by dry mouth and throat.

3. Yin-Nourishing and Lung-Cooling Granules: These granules nourish yin, clear internal heat, moisten the lungs, and relieve cough, and are suitable for symptoms such as lung dryness, thirst, and cough.

4. Antibiotics: If a patient develops excessive thick phlegm due to lung dryness, appropriate oral antibiotics may be required.

If the lung discomfort is caused by environmental factors, in addition to taking medication, it may also be relieved by increasing indoor humidity, drinking more water, and consuming more water-rich fruits and vegetables.
