Common causes of rectal bleeding:

1. Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids may cause painless, intermittent bright red blood after bowel movements. The blood is often found on the surface of the stool or dripping after defecation, and in severe cases, it may even present as jet-like bleeding.

2. Anal fissure: An anal fissure caused by a tear in the anal lining can lead to pain and bleeding, usually accompanied by severe pain during bowel movements. Bleeding from an anal fissure typically presents as bright red blood and may be associated with anal pain.

3. Intestinal inflammation: Inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease can damage the intestinal mucosa and cause rectal bleeding. This type of bleeding is often accompanied by mucus or pus, as well as symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea.

4. Intestinal tumors: Intestinal tumors, such as colon cancer and rectal cancer, can also cause rectal bleeding. When the tumor surface becomes eroded or ruptured, blood may mix with the stool, resulting in dark red or bright red blood in the stool.

5. Infections: Certain bacterial or viral infections can cause acute gastroenteritis, accompanied by diarrhea and rectal bleeding.

If rectal bleeding occurs, prompt medical attention is recommended.
