Pain in the back of the head can be caused by various factors, mainly including the following:

1. Occipital neuralgia: Commonly occurs in the occipital region, characterized by paroxysmal electric-shock-like or stabbing pain, which may be related to neck muscle strain or cervical spine problems.

2. Cervical spondylosis: Poor cervical spine health can cause neck muscle spasms, leading to traction pain in the scalp, known as cervicogenic headache.

3. Hypertension: When blood pressure rises, pressure within the cerebral blood vessels increases, potentially causing pain in the back of the head.

4. Prolonged periods of looking down at mobile phones, computers, or working at a desk can easily cause neck muscle contraction and spasms, resulting in pain in the back of the head. Mental stress, high levels of stress, and insufficient sleep may also contribute to this type of pain.

5. Trauma such as impact or blows to the back of the head may stimulate nerves in the skin, causing pain symptoms.

If the pain is severe or persists, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.
