How is peripheral nerve injury treated?
Recently, my arms and legs have been experiencing significant pain. My doctor mentioned it might be caused by damage to the peripheral nerves. I would like to ask, how is peripheral nerve injury treated?

Treatment methods for peripheral nerve injury:
1. Protect the injured nerve: During the recovery period, it is important to avoid adverse stimuli such as excessive pressure or stretching on the injured nerve. Doctors may recommend wearing a brace or a lightly compressive bandage to protect the affected nerve.
2. Medication: Neurotrophic drugs such as vitamin B12 and methylcobalamin may be used, as these medications help promote nerve repair and reduce inflammation. Additionally, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and analgesics can be used to relieve pain and discomfort.
3. Physical therapy: Treatments such as massage, heat application, cold application, ultrasound therapy, and electrical stimulation can help promote the recovery of nerve conduction function and improve muscle control.
4. Surgical treatment: Severe nerve injuries, such as nerve adhesion, axonal断裂 (axon断裂), or nerve defects, may require surgical intervention. Surgical options include nerve release surgery, nerve suturing, and nerve grafting.
5. Rehabilitation training: Various exercises, massage, and neuromuscular re-education techniques can help patients regain muscle control and restore normal sensory and motor functions.
If symptoms of peripheral nerve injury are detected, early medical consultation is advised.
