What should not be eaten with abalone?
I live near the seaside, so there's plenty of seafood like abalone. My family bought quite a lot, but I'm always worried about possible food禁忌 (taboos). I would like to ask, what foods should not be consumed together with abalone?
Abalone should not be consumed with the following foods:
1. Foods rich in tannic acid: such as persimmons and tea. Tannic acid may combine with the protein in abalone to form substances that are difficult to digest, affecting protein absorption and possibly causing gastrointestinal discomfort.
2. Cold-natured foods: Although abalone itself is sweet and neutral in nature, consuming it in large quantities with cold-natured foods like watermelon and crab may lead to symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain in individuals with spleen and stomach deficiency-cold.
3. High-purine foods: Abalone is a high-purine food. Patients with hyperuricemia or gout should avoid consuming it together with other high-purine foods such as animal offal and seafood, to prevent an increase in blood uric acid levels and reduce the risk of gout attacks.
4. Allergenic foods: Individuals allergic to seafood should avoid eating abalone together with known allergenic foods to reduce the risk of allergic reactions.
In addition, patients with gout, hyperuricemia, colds with fever, or yin deficiency with sore throat should avoid consuming abalone, as it may exacerbate their conditions. Proper food pairing is important when consuming abalone; avoid eating it with the above-mentioned foods to ensure health.
