Symptoms of Esophageal Reflux
Recently, I have been experiencing frequent stomach pain and nausea. I suspect it might be a case of reflux. I would like to ask, what are the symptoms of esophageal reflux?

Esophageal reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), mainly presents with the following symptoms:
1. Heartburn: A burning sensation behind the breastbone is the most common symptom of esophageal reflux. It often worsens after meals, when lying down, or when bending over.
2. Acid regurgitation: Stomach acid flows back into the mouth, causing a sour or bitter taste, sometimes accompanied by belching.
3. Difficulty swallowing: Long-term esophageal inflammation may lead to esophageal narrowing, which can interfere with the passage of food and cause discomfort or difficulty when swallowing.
4. Sore throat or hoarseness: Stomach acid irritating the throat mucosa can cause sore throat, hoarseness, or frequent throat clearing.
5. Chronic cough: Coughing that worsens at night or when changing body positions may be caused by stomach acid reflux into the respiratory tract.
6. Asthma-like symptoms: Some patients may experience wheezing, shortness of breath, and other symptoms that require differential diagnosis from asthma.
7. Non-cardiac chest pain: Chest pain similar to that of a heart attack usually is unrelated to physical activity and may be associated with esophageal spasms.
If you experience the above symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.
