What are the causes of left lower abdominal pain?
A few days ago, I started feeling pain in the lower left abdomen. It is not a constant pain, but rather a dull, intermittent ache that makes me feel uncomfortable all over. I would like to ask the doctor what might be the cause of pain in the lower left abdomen?

Left lower abdominal pain can be caused by various factors; the following are some of the main reasons:
1. Colonic diseases: including but not limited to colitis, diverticulitis, irritable bowel syndrome, etc. Among them, diverticulitis is caused by inflammation or infection of small pouches on the colon wall, often manifesting as left lower abdominal pain, accompanied by symptoms such as fever and nausea.
2. Gynecological issues: For women, gynecological conditions such as ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and pelvic inflammatory disease may also lead to left lower abdominal pain.
3. Urinary system problems: Left ureteral stones are among the common urinary tract diseases; irritation or damage to local mucosa by stones can cause left lower abdominal pain, often accompanied by back pain and other symptoms.
4. Digestive system problems: Although gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, gastric ulcers, and pancreatitis do not directly affect the left lower abdomen, the pain may sometimes radiate to this area.
5. Appendicitis: Although the appendix is usually located in the right lower abdomen, in rare cases, variation in appendiceal position can cause left lower abdominal pain.
Additionally, dietary adjustments should be made during treatment, avoiding spicy foods and maintaining healthy lifestyle habits.
