Causes of gastric reflux:

1. Dysfunction of the lower esophageal sphincter: The lower esophageal sphincter is a key structure that prevents stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus. If its function is impaired, it can lead to the reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus.

2. Increased intra-abdominal pressure: Conditions such as obesity, pregnancy, intra-abdominal tumors, or significant ascites can increase intra-abdominal pressure, forcing stomach contents upward and causing gastric reflux.

3. Lifestyle factors: Poor lifestyle habits such as long-term smoking, alcohol consumption, and lack of exercise may also affect gastrointestinal function and trigger gastric reflux.

Main treatments for gastric reflux include:

1. Lifestyle modifications: Avoiding spicy foods, reducing fat intake, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol consumption, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding lying down immediately after meals.

2. Medication: Including antacids and other drugs that reduce gastric acid secretion to relieve symptoms.

3. Surgical treatment: For patients with severe gastroesophageal reflux disease who do not respond well to medical therapy, surgical options such as Nissen fundoplication may be considered to strengthen the function of the lower esophageal sphincter.
