Why do oral problems often occur?
Every few days, I keep hearing my younger brother complaining about pain and discomfort in his mouth. I'd like to find out why oral health issues occur so frequently.
Oral health issues are common health problems in daily life and may be caused by various factors. The following are some possible causes:
1. Genetic factors: Some people are born with reduced saliva production, which can easily lead to dry mouth and increase the susceptibility to oral diseases such as dental caries or periodontal disease.
2. Poor oral hygiene: Inadequate cleaning of the mouth allows food debris and bacteria to accumulate, leading to plaque formation and potentially causing dental caries or other oral diseases. It is recommended to brush teeth at least twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and replace toothbrushes regularly. Improper brushing techniques or infrequent brushing and flossing increase the risk of oral health problems.
3. Nutritional deficiencies: Dietary habits can affect oral health. Adequate intake of vitamins B, C, and D plays an important role in maintaining oral health. Deficiencies in these nutrients may lead to mucosal lesions and other issues. It is important to limit consumption of high-sugar and acidic foods and beverages, as they can cause tooth decay and potentially lead to oral candidiasis, resulting in symptoms such as redness and pain of the oral mucosa.
4. Bacterial infections: Various bacteria present in the mouth may cause different types of infections, such as gingivitis and pericoronitis of wisdom teeth. Treatments for bacterial infections include oral antibiotics or topical antimicrobial medications.
5. Harmful oral habits: Unfavorable habits such as chewing on one side only, breathing through the mouth, and tongue biting may affect the normal alignment of teeth and the proper development of the jawbone, leading to oral health problems.
6. Lifestyle habits and diseases: Unhealthy lifestyle habits such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and lack of exercise, as well as digestive system disorders and functional disturbances, may also affect oral health.
In conclusion, oral health problems are caused by multiple factors. Maintaining good oral health lies in prevention and the practice of good oral hygiene habits.
