Laser eye bag removal side effects
I'm planning to have laser eyelid surgery to remove my under-eye bags, but I'm a bit worried. What are the side effects of laser removal of under-eye bags?

Laser blepharoplasty has garnered significant attention in the field of cosmetic surgery, effectively removing under-eye bags and enhancing personal appearance. However, it may also have certain side effects. Common side effects include:
1. Localized swelling and bruising. This occurs because the laser treatment causes some trauma to the skin and tissues, resulting in blood leakage and tissue edema. These symptoms generally subside gradually within a few days to one or two weeks. Patients can alleviate these symptoms with appropriate cold compresses.
2. Infection. If strict aseptic techniques are not followed during surgery, or if patients fail to properly care for the wound after surgery, infection may occur. Symptoms may include redness, swelling, pain, fever, and even purulent discharge at the wound site.
3. Skin burns. Improper laser energy settings or operational errors may cause superficial or deep skin burns, leading to redness, swelling, blistering, and potentially scarring.
4. Skin pigmentation. Some patients may experience temporary skin hyperpigmentation after surgery, which may be related to individual skin characteristics, improper postoperative care, or sun exposure. Generally, this condition improves over time, although in rare cases it may persist. During this period, patients should avoid exposure to sunlight.
5. Unsatisfactory results. The surgical outcome may be less than ideal, such as incomplete removal of under-eye bags or unevenness and depressions in the treated area.
Although laser blepharoplasty offers cosmetic benefits, patients should fully understand its potential side effects and undergo the procedure and postoperative care under the guidance of a physician.
