How to treat a long stye
I have a stye on my eye, and it's very uncomfortable. I would like to know how to treat a stye?

Hordeolum, medically known as stye, refers to an acute suppurative inflammation of the eyelid glands, usually caused by bacterial infection, with Staphylococcus aureus being the most common causative agent. Treatments include:
1. Warm or cold compress: In the early stages of the condition, local warm or cold compresses can help alleviate symptoms and promote resolution of the inflammation. Warm compresses can be applied multiple times daily, each session lasting 15-20 minutes, to improve blood circulation and aid in dispersing the inflammation.
2. Maintain ocular hygiene: Avoid rubbing the eyes with hands to prevent worsening the infection.
3. Medication: Under a doctor's guidance, antibiotic eye drops or ointments may be used for treatment, such as levofloxacin hydrochloride eye drops, erythromycin eye ointment, etc., to reduce local inflammation.
4. Surgical treatment: If the stye develops into an abscess that cannot rupture and resolve spontaneously, surgical intervention is required. Under sterile conditions, incision and drainage are performed to accelerate the healing process.
5. Lifestyle adjustments: During treatment, maintain healthy lifestyle habits, avoid staying up late, eat a balanced diet, and avoid consuming spicy or irritating foods to promote recovery.
During the treatment process, one should avoid squeezing the abscess to prevent the spread of infection. If symptoms persist without improvement, or if there are accompanying symptoms such as high fever and severe pain, prompt medical attention is necessary to avoid delaying treatment.
