Weakness and soreness in the waist and knees may indicate kidney deficiency?
I have been feeling weak and sore in my lower back and knees recently. I'm worried it might be kidney deficiency; could that be the case?
Weakness and soreness in the lower back and knees are common symptoms of kidney deficiency, but they are not the sole symptoms nor do they necessarily indicate kidney deficiency. These symptoms may also be caused by excessive fatigue, prolonged sitting, lumbar disc herniation, or calcium deficiency.
If you experience weakness and soreness in the lower back and knees, it is recommended to rest first and avoid overexertion and prolonged standing or sitting. You can perform appropriate exercises for the waist and legs, such as Tai Chi or yoga, which may help alleviate the symptoms.
If symptoms persist or are accompanied by other discomforts such as dizziness, tinnitus, nocturnal emission, or premature ejaculation, you should seek medical attention promptly and undergo relevant examinations, such as kidney function tests or lumbar spine CT scans, to determine the cause.
If diagnosed with kidney deficiency, treatment should be based on the specific syndrome type under a physician's guidance; for example, kidney yang deficiency may be treated with formulas such as Jin Kui Shen Qi Wan or You Gui Wan, while kidney yin deficiency may be treated with Liu Wei Di Huang Wan or Zuo Gui Wan.
