It is important to address a fallen dental filling promptly. Whether a re-filling is needed and how it should be performed depends on multiple factors.

If there is no obvious pain, sensitivity, or discomfort after the filling falls out and the cavity is small, it may be sufficient to simply replace the filling.

If the tooth experiences pain or sensitivity after the filling comes out, or if the cavity is large, further evaluation of the pulp may be necessary to check for conditions such as pulpitis before determining the appropriate treatment plan.

After re-filling the tooth, maintaining good oral hygiene is important. Brush properly, use dental floss or interdental brushes to clean between teeth, and avoid chewing hard foods on the side of the treated tooth to prevent the filling from becoming dislodged again. Additionally, follow your dentist's instructions for regular dental checkups to promptly identify and address oral health issues and maintain overall oral health.
