Is it okay to have sex right after menstruation ends?
My period just ended recently; can I have sex with my boyfriend?
Although there may be no bleeding at the end of menstruation, the endometrium may not have fully recovered at this time. It is theoretically acceptable to engage in sexual activity, but several factors should be considered:
1. After menstruation, the protective mechanisms of the female genital tract, such as vaginal pH balance and microbiota, may not have fully recovered, which could increase the risk of infection.
2. Although ovulation typically occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle, some women may ovulate earlier or have irregular ovulation, so there is still a possibility of pregnancy if intercourse occurs shortly after menstruation ends.
3. From the perspective of physical comfort, some women may experience discomfort or slight bleeding shortly after menstruation, which may affect sexual satisfaction.
Therefore, to ensure women's physical health and comfort, it is recommended to wait 1–2 days after the complete end of menstruation before resuming sexual activity.
