Nipple pain that lasts for several days and then subsides can be caused by various factors. The following are some possible reasons:

1. Physiological cycle changes are a common cause. For example, during the premenstrual period, hormonal fluctuations in the body may cause breast sensitivity or pain, which naturally disappears as the cycle progresses.

2. Mammary hyperplasia, a common benign breast condition associated with endocrine disorders and excessive estrogen levels. Patients with mammary hyperplasia may experience breast distension or stabbing pain, which may fluctuate with the menstrual cycle.

3. Nipple skin problems such as eczema or dermatitis may initially cause pain and discomfort, which can be relieved through local care or medication.

4. Wearing ill-fitting undergarments or external irritation may also lead to temporary pain.

5. Mastitis, usually caused by bacterial infection, leads to redness, swelling, and pain in the breast tissue. However, as the inflammation subsides, the pain gradually diminishes.

6. Trauma or pressure to the nipple may cause local edema, ulceration, and pain. However, this type of pain typically decreases gradually once further injury is avoided.

7. If the pain is accompanied by other abnormalities, such as discharge, lumps, or skin changes, medical attention should be sought promptly to rule out the possibility of breast disease.
