How to treat a stiff neck
When I woke up in the morning, my neck suddenly became immobile and extremely painful, as if I had slept on it awkwardly. Now my neck can only remain in one position; even slight movement causes severe pain. What should I do? Is there any way to quickly relieve the pain caused by a stiff neck?

"Luo Zhen," also known as a stiff neck, is a common soft tissue injury affecting the neck, usually caused by improper sleeping posture or exposure of the neck to cold. The following are some common treatment methods:
1. Rest and protection: Avoid excessive neck movement and reduce the strain on neck muscles. Use an ergonomically designed pillow to maintain the natural curve of the neck and prevent further injury.
2. Heat application: During the early stage of a stiff neck, apply a hot water bag or warm towel to the neck area for about 15–20 minutes, 3–4 times daily. Heat application helps improve blood circulation and relieve muscle tension and pain.
3. Massage and manipulation: Gentle massage and manipulation can help relax tense muscles and alleviate pain. Begin massaging from the painful area and gradually move toward the shoulders, or use professional techniques for neck and shoulder manipulation.
4. Medication: If the pain is severe, oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen capsules or diclofenac sodium sustained-release capsules, may be used. Alternatively, topical analgesic plasters such as Xiaotong膏 (pain-relieving plaster) or Yunnan Baiyao plaster may be applied to relieve pain and inflammation.
5. Physical therapy: Treatments such as acupuncture, electrotherapy, and magnetotherapy can help relieve muscle tension and pain by stimulating acupoints and meridians.
