Why is my face peeling so severely?
The skin on my face has been peeling frequently lately. I'd like to know why the peeling is particularly severe.
Severe peeling or flaking of facial skin may be caused by various factors, including but not limited to the following:
1. Dry skin: This is one of the most common causes, possibly related to environmental factors (such as low humidity and extreme temperatures), use of irritating cleansers, or insufficient moisturizing.
2. Allergic reaction: Allergy to certain substances (such as ingredients in cosmetics or facial cleansers) can cause skin redness, itching, and peeling.
3. Infection: Certain fungal or bacterial infections may also lead to skin peeling, such as candidiasis.
4. Skin diseases: Skin conditions such as facial eczema and allergic dermatitis can also cause severe peeling. These conditions are usually accompanied by symptoms like itching and redness.
5. Medication side effects: Some medications may cause skin reactions, including peeling.
6. UV damage: Prolonged exposure to sunlight, especially without proper sun protection, may result in dry and peeling skin.
Significant peeling of the facial skin may be caused by multiple factors. It is recommended to seek medical attention promptly to obtain an accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment.
