Vitiligo is not contagious. Vitiligo, medically known as leukoderma, is a common pigment-loss skin condition characterized primarily by localized or widespread areas of skin with reduced pigmentation. The cause may be related to factors such as genetics, autoimmune responses, and abnormalities in neurochemical substances. It is not caused by pathogens and therefore is not infectious. Normal social contact with individuals who have vitiligo is safe, and providing them with adequate understanding and support can help them actively cope with the condition.
