How to improve a sallow complexion
I have recently noticed that my complexion appears somewhat dull, and I would like to improve it. How can I address a dull complexion?
Dull complexion is often caused by poor blood circulation, lack of sleep, improper diet, or prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation. It is recommended to improve complexion through the following approaches:
1. Sun protection: Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher when going outdoors to prevent UV damage and reduce the formation of dark spots.
2. Balanced diet: Consume foods rich in vitamins C and E, such as lemon passion fruit, tomatoes, and cucumbers. These foods contain antioxidants that help improve skin tone.
3. Regular exercise: Engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week, such as brisk walking or swimming, to enhance blood circulation and promote a healthier complexion.
4. Regulate lifestyle: Ensure adequate sleep, aiming for 7–9 hours each night, to support skin repair and renewal.
5. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): TCM treatments based on individual diagnosis, such as using herbs that promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis or replenish qi and nourish blood (e.g., Angelica sinensis, Astragalus membranaceus, and red dates), can be taken internally or applied externally to improve complexion.
6. Psychological well-being: Maintain a positive mindset and avoid excessive stress, as emotional fluctuations can also affect skin condition.
If there is no significant improvement after implementing the above measures, it is advisable to seek medical evaluation to rule out possible underlying conditions such as thyroid dysfunction or liver disease.
