How many days after receiving a hyaluronic acid injection (water light injection) can I wash my face?
I recently plan to receive a hyaluronic acid injection (water light needle) and would like to know how many days after the treatment I can wash my face.
Generally, you can wash your face with water 24 hours after receiving a hyaluronic acid injection treatment, and you may resume normal use of facial cleansers three days after the treatment.
Microscopic needle punctures are created on the skin's surface during the hyaluronic acid injection process, and the skin requires time to heal these small wounds. Within the first 24 hours, these micro-injuries have not fully closed, and washing your face during this period may introduce bacteria and other microorganisms into the skin through these openings, increasing the risk of infection. It may also interfere with the skin's absorption of the injected nutrients and hinder skin recovery.
After 24 hours, the needle punctures will have undergone initial healing, making it relatively safe to wash your face with water. However, you should wash gently and avoid vigorous rubbing. By the third day, the puncture sites are generally fully healed, and the skin's barrier function has largely returned to normal. At this point, you can safely use regular facial cleansers to effectively remove surface dirt and excess oil, maintaining proper skin hygiene.
During the recovery period, it is also important to keep the skin clean and dry to prevent infection and promote faster healing. If you experience any discomfort or have concerns following the treatment, contact your treating physician immediately for professional advice and care.
