
What is the standard for measuring blood sugar levels?
Recently, I wanted to test my own blood sugar level. May I ask what is the standard for blood glucose testing?

Blood glucose standard ranges are important indicators for assessing an individual's carbohydrate metabolism status. Generally, standard blood glucose values are divided into two categories: fasting blood glucose and postprandial blood glucose.
1. Fasting blood glucose: This refers to blood glucose measured after at least 8 hours without eating, with a normal range of 3.9-6.1 mmol/L. This is the blood glucose value measured after at least 8 hours without caloric intake. For pregnant women, fasting blood glucose should not exceed 5.1 mmol/L. For patients with diabetes, it should be controlled between 4.4-7.0 mmol/L.
2. Postprandial blood glucose: Blood glucose levels 2 hours after a meal should be below 7.8 mmol/L. For pregnant women, the postprandial glucose standard is stricter; blood glucose 1 hour after a meal should be ≤10.0 mmol/L, and 2 hours after a meal ≤8.5 mmol/L. For diabetic patients, blood glucose 2 hours after a meal should not exceed 10.0 mmol/L.
However, these standards are not fixed and should be individually adjusted according to the patient's specific conditions, such as age, disease duration, and complications.
