An anal fissure refers to a tear in the skin and mucous membrane of the anal canal, commonly seen in cases of long-term constipation, hard stools, or infections in the anal area. Whether an anal fissure can heal on its own mainly depends on the severity of the condition.

If the fissure is mild and shallow, and the patient can promptly adjust lifestyle and dietary habits, such as increasing dietary fiber intake, drinking more water to soften stools, and avoiding不良 habits like prolonged squatting during defecation and excessive straining, the wound may gradually heal.

If the anal fissure persists for more than 8 weeks, or is accompanied by severe pain and frequent bleeding, it may develop into a chronic anal fissure. In such cases, spontaneous healing is less likely, and surgical treatment may be required.
