Cervical cancer itself is not contagious.

It is a malignant tumor that originates in the cervix and develops due to multiple factors, including pathogen infections, viral infections, multiple pregnancies, and unprotected sexual behaviors. Although cervical cancer is closely associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, the cancer itself does not fall within the category of infectious diseases.

HPV infection is the primary risk factor for cervical cancer; however, progression from HPV infection to cervical cancer typically takes several years and involves a series of cytological changes, including precancerous lesions such as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).

Therefore, cervical cancer is not directly transmitted through contact but rather results from the prolonged effects of HPV infection under certain conditions.
