Can pregnant women drink tea?
I have a friend who is pregnant and really wants to drink tea, but we are unsure whether tea has any effect on the fetus. May I ask the doctor: can pregnant women drink tea?

Pregnant women can drink tea, but it should be consumed in moderation.
During pregnancy, women can choose mild and nutrient-rich teas such as green tea and floral teas. Green tea contains beneficial components like zinc and vitamin C, which help strengthen heart and kidney functions, promote blood circulation, aid digestion, and help prevent pregnancy-related edema. Floral teas, such as rose tea and chamomile tea, can help soothe emotions and improve digestion. Pregnant women may consume these teas in moderate amounts, but excessive intake should be avoided.
Drinking tea in moderation is beneficial for pregnant women, but excessive consumption may lead to adverse effects. It is recommended that pregnant women limit their daily tea intake to 300–400 ml to avoid excessive caffeine intake, which may negatively affect the health of both the mother and the fetus. Additionally, pregnant women should avoid drinking tea on an empty stomach, as certain components in tea may irritate the gastric mucosa and cause stomach discomfort.
Pregnant women should avoid drinking tea before bedtime, as the caffeine in tea may cause excitement and lead to difficulty falling asleep or poor sleep quality, which could subsequently affect the normal development of the fetus. It is recommended that pregnant women consume tea in moderation during the day and avoid it in the evening as much as possible.
