Dr. Qi Zhirong

Lung cancer is generally not contagious. It is a malignant tumor that originates from abnormal proliferation of lung cells. Its occurrence and development are closely related to various factors such as individual genetic predisposition, environmental factors, and lifestyle habits. Infectious diseases refer to illnesses caused by pathogens that can spread between people, animals, or from animals to humans. However, lung cancer does not possess the characteristics of an infectious disease; its cancer cells do not spread directly from person to person. Therefore, everyday contact with someone who has lung cancer, such as shaking hands, hugging, or sharing meals, will not result in transmission of the disease.

It is important to eliminate fear and discrimination against lung cancer patients in daily life and to provide them with adequate care and support. When communicating with patients, one should use appropriate language and avoid topics that might cause discomfort or anxiety. At the same time, encourage patients to maintain a positive mindset and cooperate with their doctors' treatment plans and recommendations to improve their quality of life. To prevent lung cancer, one should focus on improving the living environment and lifestyle, such as quitting smoking, reducing air pollution, and maintaining a balanced diet, in order to lower the risk of developing lung cancer.
