Asthmatic bronchitis can be considered serious or not depending on the progression of the disease. If the condition can be effectively controlled, it is generally not serious; however, if it remains uncontrolled, the condition can become quite severe.

Asthmatic bronchitis is often caused by invasion of pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, mycoplasma, and chlamydia. These pathogens may cause inflammatory changes in the bronchial mucosa, including congestion, edema, and exudation of inflammatory substances. It is often accompanied by contraction and spasm of the bronchial smooth muscles, leading to symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and even difficulty breathing. If the underlying cause can be identified and removed, asthmatic bronchitis may be curable, and the condition is relatively mild in such cases.

However, if asthmatic bronchitis cannot be effectively controlled and progresses into bronchial asthma, it becomes a chronic condition requiring long-term medication for disease management. At this stage, the condition is considered more serious. Particularly for patients with a family history of asthma, a personal history of allergies, or frequent asthma attacks, severe complications such as emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary heart disease, respiratory failure, and heart failure may develop.

If asthmatic bronchitis is suspected, timely medical attention is recommended to avoid delays in treatment. Additionally, it is important to develop healthy lifestyle habits and avoid consuming spicy and irritating foods such as pepper, chili peppers, and garlic, as these may hinder recovery.
