Disease description:

I did not take proper precautions during recent outings and contracted influenza A, experiencing persistent high fever, body aches, and severe headaches. I heard that ibuprofen may help relieve symptoms, but I'm concerned whether it is effective specifically for influenza A. May I ask if taking ibuprofen is helpful for influenza A?

Influenza A is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by the influenza A virus. Its main symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle or body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Taking ibuprofen is usually effective, but medication must be strictly used according to medical advice.

Ibuprofen is a commonly used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that has antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory effects. For certain symptoms caused by influenza A, such as high fever, headache, and muscle pain, ibuprofen can provide effective relief. Ibuprofen can reduce body temperature and alleviate discomfort caused by high fever. By inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins in the body and regulating the body's temperature control center, ibuprofen helps restore normal body temperature. However, ibuprofen does not treat the influenza A virus itself; it is only a symptomatic treatment. Therefore, while taking ibuprofen, antiviral medications targeting the influenza A virus should also be used under a doctor's guidance based on the patient's condition.

During the recovery period, it is important to ensure adequate rest, drink plenty of water, maintain a light diet, keep indoor air circulating, and avoid cross-infection.
