Dr. Chen Lu

In general, no pain is felt during the surgical procedure itself, but some degree of pain and discomfort may occur afterward.

Breast augmentation is a common cosmetic procedure, primarily performed by either autologous fat transfer or implant insertion to achieve the goal of enlarging the breasts. During the surgery, the surgeon will operate under local or general anesthesia, so the patient will not feel significant pain during the operation. However, once the anesthesia wears off, there may be some degree of pain and discomfort, which is considered normal. The physician will provide appropriate pain medication to alleviate these symptoms.

Although no pain is typically felt during the surgery, some degree of pain and discomfort afterward is a normal physiological response. To manage postoperative pain, doctors usually prescribe painkillers and advise patients to follow medical instructions for proper care. Additionally, strenuous activities should be avoided after surgery to prevent interference with wound healing and surgical outcomes. If any abnormalities or discomfort occur, prompt medical consultation is recommended. Therefore, patients need not be overly concerned about pain during the breast augmentation procedure.
