Can breast nodules be used for breast augmentation?

Disease description:

I recently had a physical examination and found out that I have breast nodules, but I have always wanted to undergo breast augmentation with my own fat. Doctor, may I ask if I can still have autologous fat breast augmentation given that I have breast nodules? Would doing so have any impact on my breast health?

For patients diagnosed with breast nodules, autologous fat breast augmentation surgery is generally not recommended.

A breast nodule refers to a lump appearing within the breast. Most are benign, but they can also be malignant. Therefore, once a breast nodule is detected, prompt medical attention is necessary to determine its nature using diagnostic methods such as ultrasound, mammography, or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Autologous fat transfer breast augmentation is a safe and effective plastic surgery procedure. It involves extracting excess fat from other areas of the body, processing it specially, and then injecting it into the breast area to achieve breast enhancement. However, for patients with existing breast nodules, autologous fat transfer for breast augmentation carries certain risks and limitations.

If a patient's breast nodule is benign and relatively small, it may be advisable to first surgically remove the nodule and wait for the breast to fully recover before proceeding with autologous fat breast augmentation. However, if the nodule is malignant or large in size, the patient should receive appropriate medical treatment rather than undergo breast augmentation surgery.

Patients should also maintain healthy lifestyle habits, including a balanced diet and appropriate physical activity, to support breast health. If any concerns or discomfort arise, timely medical consultation and adherence to a physician's recommendations are essential.
