Dr. Ren Yi

Influenza A, also known as Type A influenza, can be prevented from spreading among family members through isolation and protection measures, attention to personal hygiene, environmental disinfection, and enhancing immunity.

1. Isolation and protection: Infected children should stay separately in a well-ventilated room to minimize close contact with other family members. If separate accommodation is not possible, maintain a distance of at least one meter. Caregivers should wear surgical masks properly while attending to the child and replace them promptly if the masks become damp or contaminated.

2. Personal hygiene: Encourage children to wash hands frequently, especially after coughing, sneezing, and before and after touching the mouth or nose. Family members should also maintain good hand hygiene by using soap and scrubbing hands for at least 20 seconds following the seven-step handwashing technique. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers can also be used.

3. Environmental disinfection: Clean and disinfect the child's room daily. Use chlorine-containing disinfectants to wipe surfaces such as furniture and floors, especially objects that the child frequently touches, such as toys, door handles, and tabletops. Ensure adequate ventilation after disinfection.

4. Enhancing immunity: Family members should ensure adequate sleep, maintain a balanced diet, consume more vegetables and fruits, and engage in moderate exercise to strengthen their immune system and reduce the risk of infection. Additionally, those family members who have not yet been infected may consider getting an influenza vaccine, which is an effective way to prevent Influenza A.

Meanwhile, patients should follow the doctor's treatment advice, get sufficient rest, maintain a healthy diet, enhance physical resistance, and promote recovery.
