The fastest and most effective method to terminate ventricular fibrillation (VF) is electrical defibrillation. This method uses a specific device to generate an electrical current that directly counteracts VF, rapidly correcting the abnormal cardiac rhythm. For adult patients, monophasic defibrillation typically delivers 360 joules of energy, whereas biphasic defibrillators usually deliver between 120 to 200 joules.
