Disease description:

Recently, I've been getting a lot of pimples on my face and back for no apparent reason, and they keep coming back after fading. I'm a bit worried—could it be a sexually transmitted disease? I've heard that some sexually transmitted diseases can cause pimples too. It's really troubling.

Acne refers to acne vulgaris. Generally, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) do not necessarily cause acne. If you suspect you have an STD or experience skin problems, you should seek timely medical attention for professional examination and diagnosis.

Acne is a skin condition caused by chronic inflammation of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. STDs, also known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), encompass many different types and exhibit various symptoms. Some STDs, such as gonorrhea and syphilis, may primarily present with skin ulcers, papules, and other lesions, but these skin manifestations are not equivalent to acne in the traditional sense.

However, STDs may indirectly contribute to the occurrence or worsening of acne. For example, the immune system of individuals with STDs may be compromised to some extent, thereby reducing the body's resistance to various diseases, including skin conditions. Additionally, certain medications used to treat STDs may cause side effects on the skin—for instance, some antibiotics may trigger allergic reactions manifesting as erythema, rashes, or itching.

In daily life, it is recommended to maintain a healthy lifestyle and practice good sexual hygiene to help prevent STDs.
