The function of Mifepristone tablets

Mifepristone tablets have the following functions: anti-implantation, induction of menstruation, termination of early pregnancy, promotion of cervical ripening, and emergency contraception.

1. Anti-implantation: Mifepristone tablets can inhibit the formation of progesterone and block its effects, thereby preventing the implantation of the fertilized egg.

2. Induction of menstruation: Administration of the medication before the onset of menstruation can regulate hormone levels in the body, induce menstruation, and promote the onset of the menstrual period.

3. Termination of early pregnancy: When pregnancy does not exceed 49 days, this medication can be used under medical guidance to destroy the gestational sac. It is usually used in combination with Misoprostol tablets to increase the sensitivity of the pregnant uterus to prostaglandins, thereby achieving the effect of terminating an early pregnancy.

4. Promotion of cervical ripening: Mifepristone tablets can promote softening and dilation of the cervical canal, facilitate cervical expansion, prepare for delivery, or be used prior to medical procedures such as management of missed miscarriage, incomplete miscarriage, intrauterine fetal demise, removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs), and other surgical operations.

5. Emergency contraception: Mifepristone tablets can compete with progesterone for receptor sites, thereby antagonizing progesterone's effects and interfering with the implantation of the fertilized egg to achieve emergency contraception. It is generally recommended to take the medication within 12 hours after unprotected sexual intercourse.
